Grey Gardens Star to Co-Host "The View" Feb. 9; Tartaglia Guests Feb. 8

By Andrew Gans
07 Feb 2007

Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole, who has won rave after rave for her performance in the new Broadway musical Grey Gardens, will be a guest host on the ABC-TV chat show "The View."

Ebersole will join the gals of "The View" on Friday, Feb. 9, according to a Grey Gardens spokesperson. That episode will also feature singer Josh Groban.

Avenue Q Tony nominee John Tartaglia, who is currently back on Broadway as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, will appear on "The View" Feb. 8. He will be joined by a few "Sprites" from his new Disney show "Johnny and The Sprites."

"The View" — which features Barbara Walters, Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck — airs in the metropolitan area on ABC-TV Channel 7 from 11 AM–noon. Check local listings.

Christine Ebersole received a 2003 Tony nomination for her performance in Lincoln Center’s production of Dinner at Eight. She also received a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her work as Dorothy Brock in the hit revival of 42nd Street. Ebersole's other Broadway credits include The Best Man, Getting Away with Murder, Harrigan 'n Hart, Camelot, Oklahoma!, On the Twentieth Century, I Love My Wife, Angel Street and the City Center Encores! productions of A Connecticut Yankee, Ziegfeld Follies of 1936, Lady in the Dark and Allegro. She was also seen Off-Broadway in Talking Heads, and her work in the Off-Broadway production of Grey Gardens brought the actress Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards.

The musical Grey Gardens at the Walter Kerr Theatre by Doug Wright (book), Michael Korie (lyrics) and Scott Frankel (music) is inspired by the 1975 film documentary of the same name, which charted the broken women's lives as they clattered around the shambles of a mansion that had once seen grand parties.
