Clarkson and Forte Call Edge Theater's Bingo Night Feb. 12

By Zachary Pincus-Roth
12 Feb 2007

Patricia Clarkson, Will Forte and the just-announced Philip Seymour Hoffman are the celebrity callers at the Edge Theater's annual Bingo Night benefit Feb. 12 at 8 PM at Epiphany Church.

Amy Ryan (Tony nominee for A Streetcar Named Desire) and Josh Charles ("Dead Poets Society") will also call.

At the door, guests will receive bingo cards, which will allow them to play all night for prizes. The proceeds will go to Edge Theater's next production, the world premiere of Adam Rapp’s Essential Self-Defense, a co-production with Playwrights Horizons.

In between rounds of bingo, Lucas Papaelias and Ray Rizzo will provide music.

Bingo callers from previous years include Chris Noth, Rosario Dawson, Elizabeth Banks, Dylan Baker and Anthony Rapp.

Forte is best known for starring on "Saturday Night Live." Clarkson has appeared on Broadway in The House of Blue Leaves and Eastern Standard and Off-Broadway in Three Days of Rain, among other shows. She received an Oscar nomination for "Pieces of April."

Edge Theater is led by its artistic director, the director Carolyn Cantor, and its producer, the set designer David Korins. The company received a 2006 Obie Award for Outstanding Emerging Theater Company.

Past productions include Living Room in Africa by Bathsheba Doran, Orange Flower Water by Craig Wright, Now That's What I Call a Storm by Ann Marie Healy and Blackbird and Stone Cold Dead Serious, both by Adam Rapp.

According to press notes, the company "strives to provide a dynamic engagement between theatre artists and the community by producing and promoting plays that explore the boundaries of theatrical style and illuminate the human experience. Among its highest priorities is cultivating new and younger audiences for the theater."

Epiphany Church is located on Second Avenue at 22nd Street in Manhattan. Tickets, which begin at $50, are available at (212) 868-4444 or www.smarttix.com. For more information, visit www.edgetheater.org.
