The Sublet Experiment, a Play Staged in Apartments, Gets Monthly Venues

The Sublet Experiment, a play staged in apartments around New York City, will have month-long sit-down stints in March and April.

Previously, the play, written by Ethan Youngerman and directed by Michelle Tattenbaum, had been moving constantly from apartment to apartment since it began in November 2006.

From March 1-April 1, the show will be staged in an apartment in Soho on Greene Street between Spring and Broome. From April 12-29, the venue will be in Brooklyn Heights on Willow Street between Pierrepont and Clarke Streets.

According to press notes, in the play, "a serial sublettor, a reality show reject and the worst bank robbers in history collide. It is a comic thriller about love, identity and identity theft as two young people try to find themselves, but end up finding each other."

The show has gone up in apartments in various neighborhoods around the city including Carroll Gardens, Washington Heights, Chelsea, Tribeca, Astoria and Hoboken, NJ.

The cast includes Erin Maya Darke, Adam Hyland, Christian Maurice and Marshall Sharer. Costumes are by Jessica Pabst, and sound is by Tim Boyce.

Youngerman, a recent graduate of the NYU Dramatic Writing program, has had plays workshopped or performed at Manhattan Theatre Club, The New York International Fringe Festival, the Irish Arts Center and the Hangar Theater. Tattenbaum has directed at the Lincoln Center Directors' Lab, The New York International Fringe Festival, Here Arts Center and New York Musical Theatre Festival.

The Sublet Experiment goes up Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 7 PM.
