The staging — directed by Bob Spiotto, artistic director of Hofstra's Community Arts Programs and executive producer of Hofstra Entertainment — commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Broadway production of Agnes of God and is part of the 2007-08 celebration of "The Playhouse at 50," which honors the 50th anniversary of the opening of the John Cranford Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY.
Missy Dowse is a junior in the Hofstra theatre department. She plays a mysterious novice nun. Sullivan plays a fallen Catholic psychiatrist, and Shire plays a worldly Mother Superior.
Proceeds from this special presentation will benefit the Hofstra University Department of Drama and Dance.
Susan Sullivan is a Hofstra alumna and a two-time Emmy and Golden Globe nominee. She's well known to television audiences for her starring roles in several series, including "It's a Living," "Rich Man, Poor Man," "Julie Farr M.D.," "The George Carlin Show," "The Monroes," "Dharma & Greg," "Falcon Crest" and, most recently, "Two and a Half Men" and "The Nine."
Hofstra Entertainment's one-night-only benefit reading is $28 (with discounts for seniors, students, faculty).
