Spring Awakening, In the Heights, Dying City, Stuff Happens Among 2007 Lortel Nominees

| photo by Joan Marcus | The new musicals In the Heights, Gutenberg!, Striking 12 and Spring Awakening, and plays Stuff Happens, Indian Blood, Dying City and The Busy World Is Hushed are among nominees in the 2007 Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring excellence in Off-Broadway theatre.
The League of Off-Broadway Theatres and Producers announced the 22nd annual nominations April 2. Recipients will be announced May 7 at New World Stages.
Spring Awakening, the Frank Wedekind-inspired musical by Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, which started at Atlantic Theater Company's home in 2006 prior to a move to Broadway, leads in nominations, earning six, while The Public Theater's Stuff Happens and Atlantic's The Voysey Inheritance snagged five noms each.
Three of the four revival nominees were produced by Signature Theatre Company — Landscape of the Body, King Hedley II and Two Trains Running.
Awarded since 1986, the Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the League by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation. Additional support is provided by Theatre Development Fund.

Kevin Kline will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and Special Awards will go to Classical Theatre of Harlem and fight director Rick Sordelet.
Christopher Durang will be honored with a star on the Playwrights' Sidewalk outside the Lortel Theatre on Christopher Street.
Actors' Fund of America will be presented with Special Award in honor of 125 Years of service.
