The American Theatre Wing will honor theatre legends Carol Channing, James Earl Jones and Tommy Tune at its annual spring gala on June 4 at Cipriani 42nd Street in Manhattan.

The entertainment will include tributes to each of the three honorees. Details are to be announced.

Angela Bassett, Courtney B. Vance, Jerry Herman and Twiggy will serve as honorary chairs for the event, which will include a cocktail reception at 6:30 PM and dinner at 7:30 PM.

One of the true superstars of the American musical theatre, Channing won a Tony for her famed performance in Hello, Dolly! and received a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award in 1995. Her other Broadway credits include Lend an Ear, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Lorelei. She also has an Academy Award nomination for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and wrote an autobiography, "Just Lucky I Guess: A Memoir of Sorts" for Simon & Schuster.

James Earl Jones won Tony Awards for his performances in The Great White Hope and Fences and was also Tony-nominated for his work in On Golden Pond, his most recent Broadway appearance. The actor has also been seen on Broadway in "MASTER HAROLD"…and the boys, Othello, A Lesson from Aloes, Paul Robeson, Of Mice and Men, The Iceman Cometh, Les Blancs, A Hand Is on the Gate, Danton's Death, Infidel Caesar, The Cool Wind and Sunrise at Campobello.

Tune, a director-choreographer-performer who recently starred in the touring production of Dr. Doolittle, has garnered nine Tony Awards for his work on Seesaw, A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, Nine, My One and Only, Grand Hotel The Musical and The Will Rogers Follies.

Tickets for the black-tie gala range from $2,500 to $700, with tables of 10 starting at $7,000. For more information and to order tickets, call 212-765-0606 ext. 301.

The not-for-profit American Theatre Wing is best known as the creator of the Tony Awards, which it presents annually with the League of American Theatres and Producers, among its other projects supporting American theatre.
