Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth — on Broadway earlier this season in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of The Apple Tree — will guest star on the season finale of "Ugly Betty."
Chenoweth, according to her spokesperson, will play "an orthodontic technician who loves romantic comedies and becomes overly involved in her patients' lives – including Betty's (America Ferrera)." The episode will air May 17 at 8 PM ET on ABC-TV; check local listings.
Chenoweth will be the latest Tony winner to grace the ABC series. Patti LuPone recently made a guest appearance as Mrs. Weiner, Marc's (Michael Urie) mom, and Rita Moreno is scheduled to appear on the hit series in May in an episode titled "A Tree Grows in Guadalajara."
"Ugly Betty" features America Ferrera as Betty Suarez, Eric Mabius as Daniel Meade, Alan Dale as Bradford Meade, Tony Plana as Ignacio, Ana Ortiz as Hilda, Ashley Jensen as Christina, Becki Newton as Amanda, Mark Indelicato as Justin, Michael Urie as Marc, Kevin Sussman as Walter, Rebecca Romijn as Alexis Meade and Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater.
Kristin Chenoweth, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Glinda in Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, has been seen on the New York stage in The Fantasticks, Scapin, Steel Pier, A New Brain, Epic Proportions, Strike Up the Band, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, The Apple Tree and Candide. The actress won her Tony Award for her performance as Sally Brown in the Broadway bow of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Chenoweth recently released her second solo recording, "As I Am" (Sony Classical), and her screen credits include "Kristin," "The West Wing," "The Music Man," "The Pink Panther," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Deck the Halls" and "Running with Scissors."
