Hamish Linklater and Michael Urie — who appear on television's "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and "Ugly Betty", respectively — will star in the Daniel Sullivan staging of Hamlet at South Coast Repertory.

The William Shakespeare classic will end the 2006-2007 season for the Costa Mesa, CA, company at the Segerstrom Stage. Previews are scheduled to begin May 25 toward a June 1 opening night. The production will run through July 1.

Linklater — who starred in SCR's world premiere production of Richard Greenberg's The Violet Hour and is known for his turn as the brother on CBS' "The New Adventures of Old Christine" — will tackle the title role. He was also seen Off-Broadway in The Busy World Is Hushed and Recent Tragic Events.

Urie — known to TV audiences as Marc St. James on the ABC series "Ugly Betty" — will be featured as Horatio in a starry ensemble that also includes Robert Foxworth (Twelve Angry Men, "Six Feet Under") as Claudius and Dakin Matthews (Hitchcock Blonde, "Desperate Housewives") as Polonius.

The company also includes Richard Doyle (as Ghost), Hal Landon Jr. (Gravedigger and Player King), Linda Gehringer (Gertrude), Brooke Bloom (Ophelia), Matt D'Amico (Marcellus), David DeSantos (Fortinbras/Cornelius/Player Queen), Graham Hamilton (Laertes), Matthew Henerson (Voltemand/Lucianus), Louis Lotorto (Osric), Henri Lubatti (Rosencrantz) and Jeff Marlow (Guildenstern) with Carrie Darrow, William Landsman, Andrew Matthews and Dillon Tucker.

The design team includes Ralph Funicello (set), Ilona Somogyi (costume), Pat Collins (lighting), Obadiah Eaves and (composer/sound). Robin McFarquhar serves as fight director, Armando Molina is assistant director, Dakin Matthews and John Glore handle dramaturgy, and Jamie A. Tucker is stage manager.

Director Sullivan is currently represented on Broadway by Prelude to a Kiss and is next slated to direct Harold Pinter's The Homecoming. The director recently staged Rabbit Hole, Brooklyn Boy, Sight Unseen and Julius Caesar on Broadway and Stuff Happens Off-Broadway. Other credits include Proof, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Major Barbara and The Heidi Chronicles.

Tickets to Hamlet at South Coast Repertory, 655 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa, CA, are available by calling (714) 708-5555 or visit scr.org.
