Hwang and Cho Contribute to Second Generation's Ten-Minute Play Event

By Zachary Pincus-Roth
25 Apr 2007

Plays by David Henry Hwang and Julia Cho will be among the playwrights represented in Ten, an evening of ten-minute plays presented by Second Generation, which specializes in Asian-American stories.

The evening, part of the company's "In The Works" staged reading series, will be presented at the Public Theater April 30 and May 1, on 7 PM each night.

In addition to Hwang (a Tony winner for M. Butterfly) and Cho (Durango), the playwrights will include Michael Golamco, Carla Ching, Mrinalini Kamath, Qui Nguyen, Andrew Chu, Chiori Miyagawa, A. Rey Pamatmat and Sung Rno.

The cast includes Jessica Jade Andres, Mariko Barajas, Rajesh Bose, Don Castro, Emily C. Chang, Yung-I Chang, Jackie Chung, William Jackson Harper, Sue Jean Kim, Michelle Krusiec, Ken Leung, Allison Mui, May Nazareno, Matthew G. Park, Constance Parng, Taniya Sen, James Seol and Shanti Wesley. The cast was selected after an open call for Asian-American performers.

Second Generation is celebrating its 10th anniversary season of bringing Asian-American stories to the theatre. In June the company will produce actress Michelle Krusiec's one-woman show Made in Taiwan in the first National Asian American Theater Festival.

The Public Theater is located at 425 Lafayette Street in Manhattan. For more information call Second Generation at (212) 344-4777 or visit www.2g.org.
