Anthony Fedorov, who was a finalist during the fourth season of FOX's "American Idol," joins the Off-Broadway cast of The Fantasticks May 1.

Fedorov is stepping into the role of Matt in the classic musical, which plays the Snapple Theater Center. The young singing actor joins a company that currently includes Thomas Bruce (Henry), John Deyle (Hucklebee), Julie Craig (Luisa), Burke Moses (El Gallo), Robert R. Oliver (Mortimer), Martin Vidnovic (Bellomy) and Nick Spangler (the Mute).

After his appearance on "American Idol," singer Anthony Fedorov took part in the 2005 "American Idol Summer Tour," playing in 44 cities. He appeared as a celebrity judge on "MTV's Little Talent Show Triple Threat" and as a celebrity contestant on "Fear Factor." He is currently working on a solo recording. Following the death of his brother Denis, Fedorov has become an advocate for the Sarcoma Foundation of America.

Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones' The Fantasticks, according to press notes, "tells the story of a young boy and girl who fall madly in love at the hands of their meddling fathers, but soon grow restless and stray from one another. Will their separation provide a deeper appreciation for the love they once shared or create a permanent gulf between them?" Song titles include "Try to Remember," "Much More" and "I Can See It."

The Fantasticks is the world's longest-running musical, having played a record-breaking run of more than 17,000 performances in Greenwich Village. The Fantasticks originally opened at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in May 1960 and closed Jan. 13, 2002. The original company included Wedding Singer star Rita Gardner and the late Jerry Orbach. Harvey Schmidt wrote the music, and Tom Jones penned the book and lyrics. Word Baker directed the original Off-Broadway company.

The Fantasticks cast album was recorded Aug. 22, 2006, and released Nov. 14 on the Ghostlight Records label.

The Fantasticks plays Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays at 2 PM, Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 2 and 8 PM and Sundays at 2 and 7 PM. Tickets are available by calling (212) 307-4100.

The Snapple Theater Center is located at 210 West 50th Street at Broadway.
