Christopher and Egolf Cast in Barrington's A Picasso

The Barrington Stage Company's 2007 Stage II season will kick off with A Picasso May 16.
The Jeffrey Hatcher play will officially open May 20 and will play a limited engagement through June 3. Directed by Tyler Marchant, A Picasso will co-star Emmy Award winner Thom Christopher as Picasso with Gretchen Egolf as the former art critic.
A Picasso, according to press notes, is "set during the height of the German occupation of Paris. Picasso (Christopher) is secreted to a dusty underground vault where he encounters a beautiful young Gestapo art critic-turned-interrogator (Egolf). The sexy inquisitor's job is to get Picasso to authenticate three of his drawings amidst the vault of artwork confiscated by the Nazis. It's Picasso under pressure. Who will win this cat-and-mouse game? Meet the Picasso you never knew."
The design team includes Brian Prather (sets), Guy Lee Bailey (costumes), Jeff Davis (lighting) and Matt Kraus (sound).
Thom Christopher won an Emmy Award for his work on "One Life to Live." On Broadway he was seen in Caesar and Cleopatra and Noel Coward in Two Keys (Theatre World Award), and his other stage credits include Tamara—The Living Movie, The Changeling, The Triumph of Love, King Lear and Zorba. Christopher has also been seen on screen in "The Edge of Night," "Guiding Light," "Loving," "Law & Order," "Murder She Wrote," "TJ Hooker" and "Simon and Simon."
Gretchen Egolf's Broadway credits include Ring Round the Moon and Jackie, and her Off-Broadway work includes roles in All This Intimacy, Modern Orthodox, More Lies About Jerzy, Getting Into Heaven and Crocodiles in the Potomac. Egolf can currently be seen in the film "The Namesake," and her other screen credits include "The Talented Mr. Ripley," "Quiz Show," "Gleason," "Without a Trace," "Law & Order" and "Cracker."
A Picasso will be performed at the Berkshire Athenaeum, which is located at 1 Wendell Avenue in Pittsfield, MA. Performances are Wednesday and Thursday at 7 PM, Friday and Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
