Meryl Streep to Join Tim Blake Nelson, Matt Dillon, Lili Taylor and More for Soho Rep Gala

By Ernio Hernandez
07 May 2007

Meryl Streep will be among the stars performing excerpts from new plays at Soho Rep's Spring Gala '07. Tim Blake Nelson will host the event, which is also scheduled to feature Matt Dillon, Lili Taylor, Joe Pantoliano and Lois Smith.

Expected to be in attendance at the May 14 event at 101 Riverviews are Edward Albee, Olympia Dukakis, Buck Henry, Eileen Fulton and Mac Wellman.

The show will feature excerpts from new plays by Will Eno (Thom Pain (Based on Nothing)), Nick Flynn (Alice Plays A Little Game), Jenny Schwartz (Cause for Alarm), Mac Wellman (Bad Penny) and the Nature Theater of Oklahoma.

Pre-show hors d'oeuvres and cocktail reception begins at 7 PM with the performance starting at 8 PM followed by a penthouse party with skyline views at 9 PM.

Though she has not been on Broadway since 1977's Happy End, Streep has maintained a presence in the theatre community with turns in the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park productions of The Seagull and Mother Courage as well as producing Off-Broadway's Bridge & Tunnel.

The recipient of the first-ever Soho Rep Dorothy Strelsin Playwriting Fellowship will also be announced during the evening.

Tickets to the Soho Rep Spring Gala 2007 at 101 Riverviews, 101 Sixth Avenue (between Grand and Watts Streets), are available for individuals (at $250-$500 $1,000) or tables of 8 (for $1,500-$3,000-$6,000-$10,000) by calling (212) 941-8632, ext. 203 or email gala@sohorep.org.
