Take Me America features book and lyrics by Bill Nabel and music by Bob Christianson. Based on Shari Robertson and Michael Camerini's film "Well-Founded Fear," the musical, according to press notes, is "a day in the life of an agent at the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). In a one hour interview, an agent decides who gets asylum in the United States and who gets deported. It's INS agents against asylum candidates. The prize is a green card and citizenship. The stories are life and death, real, compelling, humorous and—true."
The reading is presented by Hells Kitchen Musicals. The musical has been selected to be part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival, July 16-Aug. 3.
Theatre 315 is located in Manhattan at 315 West 47th Street.
