Jason Robert Brown's new musical 13, which played a world-premiere engagement in January at Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum, is looking toward a 2008 Broadway bow.

Producer Bob Boyett, who was involved in the L.A. production, told Bloomberg.com that the musical will arrive on Broadway in early 2008 at a theatre to be announced. "I'm very excited," Boyett said. "It's one of the freshest and most fun shows to come along. It's a coming-of-age story that everyone can relate to."

Boyett expects the production to cost $8-10 million.

The financial website also says that Boyett is searching for a director for the Broadway run; Todd Graff helmed the Forum production.

13 features a score by Brown and a book by Dan Elish. Both declined to comment to Bloomberg.com.

The new musical comedy from the composer of Parade and The Last Five Years concerns thirteen 13-year-olds dealing with the perils of teenage years in a middle school in Indiana. The cast and band — all teenagers — at the Forum included Ricky Ashley, Caitlin Baunoch, Molly Bernstein, Jenáe Burrows, Emma Degerstedt, Jamie Eblen, Julia Harriman, Jordan Johnson, Tinashe Kachingwe, Tyler Mann, Sara Niemietz, Ryan Ogburn, J.D. Phillips, Ellington Ratliff, Chris Raymond, Charlie Rosen, Alex Scolari, Chloé Smith, Christian Vandal, Nehemiah Williams and Seth Zibalese.

Composer Brown is also at work on Honeymoon in Vegas, a new musical with a book by Andrew Bergman that is based on Bergman's 1992 movie of the same name. A July reading is planned.

Jason Robert Brown, who was the musical director and arranger for the musical Urban Cowboy, won the Tony Award for Best Score for his Broadway debut, Parade. His two-person musical, The Last Five Years, played a brief run at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre, and was preserved on Sh-K-Boom Records. Brown also composed the score for Songs for a New World and wrote incidental music for Fuddy Meers, Kimberly Akimbo, The Waverly Gallery and the Irish Repertory Theatre's production of Long Day's Journey Into Night. His newest musical is titled 13.
