Pittsburgh Public's Mark Power to Exit Managing Director Position

By Kenneth Jones
24 Jun 2007

Mark R. Power, managing director of Pittsburgh Public Theater, announced he will be leaving the company in mid-July 2007.

Power joined the respected resident Equity company in March 2006 and in a relatively short period became a most valued member of the management team, according to PPT. "In addition to contributing greatly to the success of the season's world premiere productions, he spearheaded new and creative fundraising efforts, made possible the re-engineering of the company's computer infrastructure, and oversaw the long-anticipated launch of a new Public Theater website designed to contribute to the company's ongoing viability as a community resource," PPT reported.

Power will pursue independent projects, including his long-time practice of investing in Broadway shows, including the recent productions of the multi-Tony Award winners Company and The Producers.

"Mark has brought so much to The Public, including a great business sense and an amazing entrepreneurial spirit," stated Ted Pappas, "and we're fortunate he'll remain both a close friend and supporter of the company, so we can still benefit from his energy and savvy."

The future status of The Public's senior management team is in the process of being finalized.
