Flap, a Comedy About Divorce and a Pesky Bat, Gets July 5 World Premiere in MI

Williamston Theatre, the young Equity theatre located in the sleepy mid-Michigan hamlet of Williamston, closes its 2006-07 season with the world premiere comedy, Flap, by Michigan playwright Annie Martin.
The "funny, heartfelt romp" about "divorce, new houses and flying rodents (not necessarily in that order)" begins July 5 (with a pay-what-you-can performance) toward a July 13 opening. Performances continue to Aug. 12.

According to the troupe, "Starting a new chapter of her life, Gail is looking for the answer to the age-old question, 'What should I do now?' Unfortunately, what she discovers is that her new house has a terrifically sordid past, and a very unwelcoming, winged tenant! When this discovery launches her on a whirlwind of lunacy involving a soon-to-be ex-husband, a whacko neighbor and a tour bus, Gail finds herself with a lot more questions than answers."
Lynn Lammers directs a cast that includes Teri Clark as Gail; Dana Brazil as Naomi, the whacko neighbor; Brian Harcourt as Bill, the soon-to-be ex-husband; and Jesse Miller as Sam, the befuddled bat catcher. The stage manager is Erica N. Koski.
Playwright Annie Martin hails from Ferndale, MI. The creative team includes set designer Bart Bauer, costume designer Melanie Schuessler and lighting designer Laura Munson.
John Lepard is executive director of Williamston Theatre, Tony Caselli is artistic director, Christine Purchis is managing director. All three were associated with The Purple Rose Theatre Company, founded by Jeff Daniels, over the past decade.
