Tucker and Eikenberry Book Signings Set for July 10 and 11

By Andrew Gans
10 Jul 2007

Stage and screen stars Michael Tucker and Jill Eikenberry will take part in a reading of Tucker's new book, "Living in a Foreign Language," July 10 at the Barnes & Noble on West 82nd Street.

The couple will also be on hand to autograph the tome, which is subtitled "A Memoir of Food, Wine, and Love in Italy." The event is scheduled for 7-8 PM at the Barnes & Noble, which is located at 2289 Broadway at 82nd Street.

A second reading and signing will be held July 11 at the Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood, NJ from 7-9 PM.

"When their son left for college," press notes read, "Michael Tucker convinced his wife, actress Jill Eikenberry, that what the couple needed to solve the empty-nest syndrome was to buy a house in Italy. When Michael and Jill saw what they would eventually call 'home' — a vine-covered rustico amongst an olive grove and fruit trees of nearly every kind — it was love at first sight. Other than a short return to the U.S. to tie up loose ends, the couple took up permanent residence in Italy with two goals in mind: to eat well and drink plenty of wine.

"As the Tuckers acquaint themselves with the nuances of Italian life, they are seduced by long and lavish dinners at neighborhood trattorias with antipasti fit for kings, mouthwatering sandwiches at a roadside porchetta stand owned by a pork-serving seductress, and host large, extravagant parties featuring roasted pig and lamb. A delectable memoir of a chapter in the Tuckers' lives dedicated to their taste buds, 'Living in a Foreign Language,' is a tasty and indulgent account of life-long dream fulfilled."

In addition to appearing on "L.A. Law" (as Stuart Markowitz) with wife Eikenberry from 1986-94, Michael Tucker played Broadway in The Goodbye People (1979, and the 1984 film), Trelawny of the "Wells" (1975) and Moonchildren (1972). He also starred in the 2002 TV movie, "L.A. Law: The Movie," and Hollywood's "Tin Men," "Radio Days," "D2: The Mighty Ducks" and "Til There Was You." Tucker, who is the recipient of three Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations, was also a regular on HBO's "Tracey Takes On..." Tucker was also seen in Manhattan Theatre Club's world-premiere production of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Based on a Totally True Story.

Eikenberry has been seen on Broadway in Onward Victoria, Watch on the Rhine, Summer Brave, All Over Town and Moonchildren. The recipient of four Emmy nominations, two Golden Globe nominations and a Golden Globe Award, her screen credits include "Between the Lines," "Rich Kids," "Butch and Sundance: The Early Days," "Hide in Plain Sight," "Arthur," "The Manhattan Project," "Swansong," "Orphan Train," "Kane and Abel," "Family Sins," "A Stoning in Fulham County," "My Boyfriend's Back," "Cast the First Stone," "An Inconvenient Woman," "Ties that Bind," "My Very Best Friend," "Chantilly Lace," "Parallel Lives," "Strong Enough" and "Judging Amy." Eikenberry was recently seen on the New York Stage in Manhattan Theater Club's production of A Picasso.
