"Omigod You Guys": Legally Blonde CD Arrives in Stores July 17

Ghostlight Records, a division of Sh-K-Boom Records, releases the original Broadway cast recording of the new musical Legally Blonde July 17.

The cast of the new musical at the Palace Theatre recorded the score May 7 and 8. The single CD is produced by Grammy and Oscar winner Joel Moss, Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records president Kurt Deutsch and composers/lyricists Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Deutsch and Bill Rosenfield are the disc's executive producers.

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award Jerry Mitchell, Legally Blonde officially opened at the Palace Theatre April 29. The new musical, based on the Amanda Brown novel and the 2001 film of the same name, began previews April 3.

Laura Bell Bundy (Hairspray, Wicked) plays sorority girl Elle Woods, who gets dumped by her boyfriend and follows him to Harvard Law School. The Blonde cast also includes Christian Borle (Spamalot) as Emmett, Orfeh (Saturday Night Fever) as Paulette, Richard H. Blake (The Wedding Singer) as Warner, Kate Shindle (Cabaret) as Vivienne, Nikki Snelson (Off-Broadway's How to Save the World…) as Brooke and Tony Award winner Michael Rupert (Sweet Charity, The Happy Time, Ragtime) as Professor Callahan.
