Drew Sarich joins the cast of Les Misérables.

Drew Sarich assumes the role of ex-con Jean Valjean in the new Broadway production of Les Misérables at the Broadhurst Theatre starting July 23.

He succeeds Alexander Gemignani, who created the role in this 2006 revival, which was directed by John Caird. Sarich has been a member of the show's ensemble and was recently alternating in the role of Javert. He also performed on Broadway as Armand in Lestat and Off-Broadway in Jacques Brel….

The cast of this new staging of Les Miz also includes Tony winner Lea Salonga (Fantine), Ann Harada (Madame Thenardier), Max von Essen (Enjolras), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette) and Adam Jacobs (Marius), Megan McGinnis (Eponine), Chip Zien (Thenardier) and Robert Hunt (Javert).

The production opened at the Broadhurst on Nov. 9, 2006. The original production of the Claude-Michel Schönberg-Alain Boublil musical is the third longest-running show in Broadway history.
