Lone Star Love to Arrive on Broadway Starring Quaid, Cuccioli and Hoty

| photo by Aubrey Reuben | A revised version of Lone Star Love, the well-reviewed 2004-05 Off-Broadway musical that also spawned a cast album, will arrive on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre following a limited engagement at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle.
The Seattle engagement is scheduled for Sept. 8-30. The Broadway run will begin Nov. 1 at the Belasco with an official opening Dec. 3.
Academy Award nominee Randy Quaid will head the cast as Colonel John Falstaff. He will be joined onstage by Tony nominees Robert Cuccioli as Frank Ford and Dee Hoty as Margaret Anne Page.
Randy Skinner will direct and choreograph Lone Star Love, which is "inspired by Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor transplanted to the Wild West shortly after the Civil War." The creative team will also include John Rando (creative supervisor), Derek McLane (set designer), Jane Greenwood (costume designer), Ken Billington and Paul Miller (lighting designers), Tom Morse (sound designer), Jack Herrick (musical director) and Ken Lundie (associate musical director).
Conceived by John L. Haber, Lone Star Love features a book by Haber and Robert Horn and a score by Red Clay Rambler Jack Herrick. "Confederate 'Colonel John' Falstaff," press notes state, "works his charms on the wives of two wealthy cattle ranchers, with an eye on their husbands’ land and money. Featured on stage are members of The Red Clay Ramblers."
Lone Star Love will mark Randy Quaid's Broadway debut; his previous theatre credits include Shakespeare in the Park's The Golem and Sam Shepard's True West and God of Hell. A Golden Globe Award winner, Quaid's numerous film credits include "The Last Picture Show," "Midnight Express" and "The Last Detail" as well as the upcoming "Real Time," "Gary the Tennis Coach" and "Goya's Ghosts."
Robert Cuccioli, most recently on the New York stage in the revival of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his work in Jekyll & Hyde. He won the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle awards for that performance as well. Cuccioli also appeared in the Broadway production of Les Misérables and has been seen on screen in "Sliders," "Baywatch," "Celebrity," "The Stranger" and "Operation Delta Force 3: Clear Target." His recent theatrical credits include Guys and Dolls, Temporary Help, Lorenzaccio, The Sound of Music and the Actors' Fund benefit concert of On the Twentieth Century.
Dee Hoty received Tony nominations for her performances in Footloose, Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public and The Will Rogers Follies. Hoty was also nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for her work in City of Angels, and her other Broadway credits include Mamma Mia!, Me and My Girl, Big River, The Five O'Clock Girl and Shakespeare's Cabaret. Off-Broadway Hoty appeared in Personals, Vanities and Forbidden Broadway, and she portrayed Phyllis in the Paper Mill production of Follies. Her numerous regional credits include A Little Night Music, Mame and Anything Goes.

Lone Star Love will be produced on Broadway by Avenue A Productions, Robert Boyett Theatricals, Edmund and Eleanor Burke, Rusty and Susan Carter, Jon and Jeanne Cutler, Michael Speyer and Bernie Abrams and Daisy Theatricals. Executive producer is Mary Ann Anderson, and Linda Wright and the late Frederic B. Vogel are associate producers. Roger Gindi will be the general manager.
