Stage stars Billy Crudup and Patrick Wilson have been snagged for the new Warner Bros. "Watchmen" movie, based on the popular comic book, according to Variety.
Director Zack Snyder ("300") is bringing the comics to the screen. The cast reportedly will also include Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jackie Earle Haley and Malin Akerman.
Alan Moore's comic book series from the 1980s will be "set in an alternate 1985 with plenty of Cold War overtones," Variety reported.
Crudup (The Coast of Utopia, The Pillowman) will play Dr. Manhattan; Wilson (The Full Monty, Oklahoma!, "Little Children") will be Night Owl; Goode will be Ozymandias; Morgan is the Comedian; Haley will play Rorschach; and Akerman will be Silk Spectre.
Crudup won a 2007 Tony Award for Coast to Utopia. The trade reports that his next film project is "Pretty Bird" with Paul Giamatti.
