Martha Plimpton will be part of the Midsummer cast.

The Public Theater has canceled its first preview of Shakespeare in the Park's A Midsummer Night's Dream, which was scheduled for Aug. 7, due to the recent injury of the production's director, Daniel Sullivan.

Sullivan was injured on July 31 when he accidentally fell through a trap on the Delacorte stage. Sullivan suffered four fractured ribs and a collapsed lung in the incident. The director, however, is expected to make a speedy recovery and will return to rehearsals within a few days.

Previews will now being Aug. 8 at the Delacorte, with the official opening remaining Aug. 23.

The cast for A Midsummer Night's Dream includes Opal Alladin (Hippolyta), Jason Antoon (Tom Snout), Chelsea Bacon (First Fairy), Ken Cheeseman (Robin Starveling), Christine Corpuz (Ensemble), Keith David (Oberon), Mireille Enos (Hermia), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Francis Flute), Herb Foster (Philostrate), Simon Garratt (Fairy), Jon Michael Hill (Puck), Erica Huang (Fairy), Ben Huber (Ensemble), Cassady Leonard (Fairy), Austin Lysy (Lysander), Lily Maketanksy (Fairy), George Morfogen (Egeus), Tim Blake Nelson (Peter Quince), Daniel Oreskes (Theseus), Martha Plimpton (Helena), Mallory Portnoy (Ensemble), Laila Robins (Titania), Jay O. Sanders (Nick Bottom), Lina Silver (Fairy), Keith Randolph Smith (Snug), Jack Tartaglia (Fairy) and Elliot Villar (Demetrius).

Daniel Sullivan is the Tony-winning director of David Auburn's play Proof. His additional credits include Rabbit Hole, Julius Caesar (with Denzel Washignton), Brooklyn Boy, Sight Unseen, The Retreat From Moscow, Morning's at Seven, Major Barbara, A Moon for the Misbegotten, Ah, Wilderness!, An American Daughter, The Sisters Rosensweig, Conversations With My Father, The Heidi Chronicles and I’m Not Rappaport.

Sullivan, a frequent collaborator on the plays of Donald Margulies and the late Wendy Wasserstein, is scheduled to direct the Broadway revival of The Homecoming, which will co-star Ian McShane, Raul Esparza and Michael McKean.
