The Tony Award winning star of Spring Awakening, John Gallagher Jr., will rock audiences downtown when he joins his band, Old Springs Pike, for a one-night-only 10 PM concert at Spiegeltent on Sept. 10.
The group, which won the "Battle of the Broadway Bands" last spring, features Gallagher, Jr. (guitar, vocals), Heather Robb (keyboard, melodica, vocals), James Cleare (guitar, vocals) and James Smith (guitar, percussion, vocals). Jared Geller (Kiki and Herb: Alive on Broadway, Rufus Wainwright Sings Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall) produces.
The rock 'n' roll band's press notes state "using four-part harmony as a diving board, these early twenty-somethings find themselves in stylistic depths ranging from a fair-paced folk to a rarely restrained roots rock. With an energetic, spontaneous live act, Old Springs Pike proves that it's not just a concert, but an event."
Spiegeltent, the opulent mirror-lined venue located within Spiegelworld, currently hosts the acro-burlesque shows La Vie and Absinthe as well numerous contemporary and experimental musical and theatrical events. Spiegeltent is located at the Fulton Fish Market, Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport under the Brooklyn Bridge.
