07 Oct 2007 -- McCarter's Tartuffe, with Zach Grenier, Begins Performances Oct. 7

Zach Grenier to Star in McCarter's Tartuffe; Casting Complete

Zach Grenier

Zach Grenier, who has been seen on Broadway in Mastergate and Voices in the Dark and on screen in "Medium" and "Deadwood," will star in the title role of the McCarter Theatre Center's upcoming production of Tartuffe.

Directed by Daniel Fish, the Molière classic will play the New Jersey theatre Oct. 7-28 with an official opening Oct. 12. The company will also feature Michelle Beck, Beth Dixon, Christopher Donahue, Andy Paterson, Christina Rouner, Michael Rudko, Tom Story, Daniel Cameron Talbott, Nick Westrate and Sally Wingert.

Richard Wilbur provided the English translation for the McCarter staging, which is a co-production with Yale Repertory Theatre.

"Tartuffe is the epitome of a houseguest from hell," according to press notes. "Under a cloak of piety, he works his way into Orgon's household and tries to run off with the family's fortune and beautiful daughter. Everyone but Orgon sees through Tartuffe's pose, but is it too late to save them from ruin?"

The design team includes Alexandra Eaton (video design), John Conklin (set design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design) and Karin Graybash (sound design).

Grenier also played Dick Cheney in David Hare's Stuff Happens at the Public Theater. His screen credits also include "Zodiac" and "Fight Club."

McCarter Theatre Center is located at 91 University Place, Princeton, NJ. Tickets, priced $30-$49, are available by calling (609) 258-ARTS or by visiting www.mccarter.org.
