TV Stars Fuller, Berkeley and Detmer Cast in World Premiere of Rock's Grand Delusion

By Ernio Hernandez
11 Oct 2007

Television actors Kurt Fuller, Xander Berkeley, Timothy Omundson and Amanda Detmer will hit the stage in the world premiere of David Rock's Grand Delusion.

Red Dog Squadron will present the work at Los Angeles' The Lost Studio, Nov. 17-Dec. 15. Larry Biederman directs.

Set in 1914 on the brink of war, Grand Delusion imagines "a secret confab of world leaders in the days immediately preceding the Great War," according to show notes.  The dark comedy features a "zany cast of historical and fictional characters [that] includes a paranoid and narcissistic Kaiser Wilhelm; his foolish cousin Czar Nicholas II; and an Austrian foreign minister hungry for a war that will suitably impress his beautiful girlfriend."

Playing the array of historical and fictional characters will be Kurt Fuller ("Desperate Housewives," "Wayne's World") as Kaiser Wilhelm, Xander Berkeley ("24," "Apollo 13") as Czar Nicholas II, Timothy Omundson ("Psych," "Deadwood") as Count Rumpledorf, Stephen Lee ("Boston Legal") as General Fafou, Amanda Detmer ("Saving Silverman," "What About Brian") as Venetia and Brad Raider ("Spin City," "Jericho") as Podnov.

The design team includes Shannon Scrofano (set), John Eckert (lighting), Gali Noy (costume) and Colbert Davis (sound).

Raider and James Roday (star of "Pysch") are co-artistic directors of Red Dog Squadron, which has presented David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago, William Shakespeare's Henry V and Roday's Sustenance.

Tickets to Grand Delusion at The Lost Studio, 130 South La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, CA, are available by calling (323) 960-4441. For information go to reddogsquadron.com.
