A by-invitation-only reading of the new musical Red Eye of Love, sponsored by the Public Theater, will be held in Manhattan Oct. 22.

The reading, Playbill.com has learned, will boast the talents of Laura Marie Duncan (as Selma Chargesse), Cheyenne Jackson (as Wilmer Flange) and Richard Kind (as O.O. Martinas). The ensemble will comprise Cole Burden, Kimberly Chesser, Harris Doran, Rebecca Eichenberger, Montego Glover, Ann Kittredge, Zachary James, Orville Mendoza and Will Trice.

Tony Award-winning orchestrator Ted Sperling will direct the reading of Red Eye of Love, which is based on a play by Arnold Weinstein. The musical features book and lyrics by Weinstein and John Wulp and music by Jan Warner.

The creative team also includes Rob Berman (music director) and Chase Brock (choreographer). Public performances of Red Eye of Love were presented at the O'Neill Center in July.

Red Eye of Love, according to press notes, is "a zany musical comedy about America. Set against a background of war, depression and economic boon times, it follows the wacky adventures of three people: Wilmer Flange, a young idealist; O.O. Martinas, owner of the world's largest meat department store; and Selma Chargesse, the woman they both love. In doing so, it takes a hard look at the effects of love and money upon our lives."

Laura Marie Duncan has performed on Broadway in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and The Full Monty and Off-Broadway in Cupid and Psyche and Heat Lightning. She was seen in the regional production of Tom Jones, and her television credits include "Law & Order," "Law & Order: SVU," "Ed," and "Guiding Light."

Current Xanadu star Cheyenne Jackson, who was seen in the film "United 93," has also appeared on Broadway in All Shook Up, Aida and Thoroughly Modern Millie. He starred in the premiere cast of Altar Boyz, and his regional credits include West Side Story, The Most Happy Fella, Children of Eden, Hair, Carousel, Damn Yankees and Kismet. Jackson is a member of the Broadway Inspirational Voice and was seen Off-Broadway in The Agony and the Agony.

Richard Kind has been seen on Broadway in The Producers, Sly Fox and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife. His other theatrical credits include Bounce, Rough Crossing, Once in a Lifetime, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Big Knife, Accomplice, Power Failure, The Seagull, Perfect and Gravity Shoes. Among his film and television credits are "Spin City," "Mad About You," "Scrubs," "Still Standing," "Just Shoot Me," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," "Quicksand," "Stargate," "Clifford" and "Mr. Saturday Night."
