The staged reading — which is part of the Bruno Kirby Celebrity Reading Series — will be presented Nov. 12 at 8 PM at The Hayworth Theatre. Steve Zuckerman directs for producer Stacy Cole.
The dark comedy Badge centers on Roy, "a 28 year-old Boy Scout who clings to his dream of being the first scout to complete all 122 merit badges," according to press notes. "This is Roy's only hope of maintaining a tenuous grasp on his mental health. Troop leader, Brad, is suspicious of why a grown man remains in the Scouts. Brad wants him out. And things really get crazy when Brad's uninhibited sister, Jessica, shows up, making Brad do decidedly un-Scout-like things."
O'Connell — who currently stars in the new ABC series "Carpoolers" — has been seen in the films "Jerry Maguire," "Joe's Apartment" and "Stand by Me." Urie appears on ABC's "Ugly Betty" and was recently seen on stage in South Coast Repertory's Hamlet.
Emmy Award winner Carol Kane — known for her beloved and bizarre characters in "Scrooged," "My Blue Heaven," "The Princess Bride" and "Taxi" among others — has recently been seen as Madame Morrible in the musical Wicked.
Tickets (at $15 each, $10 advance) for Machiavelli at The Hayworth Theatre, 2509 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA, are available by calling (213) 389-9860. For more information visit TheHayworth.com.
