On Oct. 27 Legally Blonde's Laura Bell Bundy will take part in a theatre workshop for local students sponsored by the Tony Awards and Hilton Hotels.
Following the students' presentation of their choreography at Broadway Housing Communities, they will attend a matinee of Legally Blonde and receive a backstage tour of the Palace Theatre.
The Legally Blonde-themed workshop is one of a series of workshops presented by the Tony Awards and Hilton Hotels taking place in cities across the U.S. The initiative was created to cultivate appreciation for the arts, and to provide students who may not have the opportunity to attend a Broadway production, the chance to experience their first musical.
The students involved will also have the chance to enter a writing contest sponsored by Hilton Hotels. Entitled "First Theatre Memories," the winner of the contest will receive a trip for two to attend the Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on June 15, 2008.
In addition to Laura Bell Bundy and Paul Canaan, the event will be attended by executive director of the League of American Theatres and Producers, Charlotte St. Martin; Howard Sherman, executive director of the American Theatre Wing; and Foster Burnett, general manager of the Hilton Times Square.
