Dylan Baker, who is currently playing an ethically challenged philatelist in the Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Mauritius, has found his next Broadway project.

The stage and screen star will join the previously announced Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf in the Broadway world premiere of David Mamet's November. Previews are scheduled to begin Dec. 20 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre with an official opening Jan. 17, 2008. Joe Mantello directs.

"Set just days before a major presidential election," press notes state, "November involves civil marriages, gambling casinos, lesbians, American Indians, presidential libraries, questionable pardons and campaign contributions."

In the world premiere, Metcalf will play Clarice Bernstein, aide to President Smith (Lane). Baker will take on the role of presidential adviser Archer Brown.

Mamet previously described the play to The New York Times as "three men in a room trying to work things out." The award-winning playwright says his inspiration for the play was the absurdity of the turkeys that are pardoned each Thanksgiving by the President.

The design team will feature Scott Pask (scenic), Paul Gallo (lighting) and Laura Bauer (costumes).

November will be produced on Broadway by Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel.

Baker received Tony and Drama Desk nominations for his performance in La Bete. He also appeared on Broadway in Eastern Standard, and his Off-Broadway credits include Rough Crossing, Sea of Tranquility, Homebody/Kabul, What the Butler Saw, That Championship Season, Pride's Crossing, The Common Pursuit, Not About Heroes and Much Ado About Nothing. The actor has also been seen on screen in "Spider-Man 3," "Pitch," "Law & Order," "The Book of Daniel," "Without a Trace," "The Matador," "Spider-Man 2," "The West Wing," "Rick," "How to Deal," "The Pitts," "Head of State," "Benjamin Franklin," "The Big Time" and "The Road to Perdition," among others.

A founder of the Atlantic Theater Company, David Mamet's principal works include The Duck Variations, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross (Pulitzer Prize), Boston Marriage, Edmond, Oleanna, Speed-the-Plow and The Cryptogram (Obie Award). He recently adapted The Voysey Inheritance for the Atlantic.

Mamet has also written and directed such films as "Spartan," "State and Main," "The Winslow Boy," "Heist," "House of Games" and "The Spanish Prisoner" and was nominated for Oscars for writing "Wag the Dog" and "The Verdict." He has also adapted many of his plays into films, and is a writer and executive producer for the TV series "The Unit."
