Working My Way Back: Jersey Boys Tour Returns to San Francisco Nov. 20

By Ernio Hernandez
20 Nov 2007

Jersey Boys returns to San Francisco's Curran Theatre Nov. 20 for a special holiday run scheduled through Dec. 30.

Rick Faugno (Frankie Valli), Jeff Leibow (Nick Massi), Bryan McElroy (Tommy DeVito) and Andrew Rannells (Bob Gaudio) will play The Four Seasons opposite Jonathan Hadley and Ken Krugman. (Faugno played Joey in the original San Francisco cast.)

The ensemble comprises Mike Backes, Natalie Bradshaw, Joseph Leo Bwarie, Joyce Chittick, Graham Fenton, Julia Krohn, Jason Martinez, Kristofer McNeeley, Jonathan Gerard Rodriguez, Brad Russell, Kevin Russell, John Salvatore, Michael James Scott, Lauren Tartaglia and Colin Trahan.

Front row, center orchestra seats ($25) will be made available two hours prior to every performance. The cash-only seats (limit two per person) are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Following an extended, 44-week run at the Curran — where the tour launched Dec. 1, 2006 — producers announced Sept. 27 that the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons musical would return for an encore engagement. The recent run ended Sept. 30.

There are already two touring companies performing the Tony-winning show. This return to San Francisco marks the debut of a third company. For a list of upcoming tour stops visit jerseyboystour.com.

Des McAnuff (The Who's Tommy, Big River) directs and Sergio Trujillo choreographs Jersey Boys, the story of American pop group The Four Seasons — the highs, the lows and all in between.

The show features music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and a book by Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice. The production garnered four Tony Award wins: for stars John Lloyd Young and Christian Hoff, lighting designer Howell Binkley and for the top prize Best Musical.

The design team includes Klara Zieglerova (scenic), Jess Goldstein (costume), Howell Binkley (lighting), Steve Canyon Kennedy (sound), Michael Clark (projections) and Charles LaPointe (wig and hair design). Steve Orich handles orchestrations while Ron Melrose takes on music direction, vocal arrangements and incidental music.

The Jersey Boys tour is produced by Dodger Theatricals, Joseph J. Grano, Tamara and Kevin Kinsella, Pelican Group, in association with Latitude Link and Rick Steiner.
