Michael Grandage's eagerly awaited production of Othello — starring Chiwetel Ejiofor in the title role and Ewan McGregor as Iago — begins performances Nov. 30.
Shakespeare's tragedy, the final offering in the Donmar's current season, officially opens Dec. 4.
Ejiofor was last seen on the Donmar stage in 2002 in The Vortex, Grandage's inaugural production as Donmar artistic director. McGregor played Sky in Grandage's West End revival of Guys and Dolls. On screen McGregor's extensive credits include "Moulin Rouge," "Star Wars" and "Trainspotting."
Ejiofor's other stage credits include Ian Rickson's New York-bound Royal Court production of The Seagull starring Kristin Scott Thomas. Film credits include "Dirty Pretty Things" and "American Gangster."
