Les Miz and Legally Blonde Stars Offer Broadway Master Classes Dec. 15-16

By Adam Hetrick
03 Dec 2007

Performers from Legally Blonde and Les Misérables will take part in the upcoming Broadway Artists Alliance master class weekend Dec. 15-16.

Megan McGinnis, currently starring as Eponine in the revival of Les Misérables, will spend a day with young Broadway hopefuls Dec. 15, while Legally Blonde's Michelle Kittrell will lead the Dec. 16 master class.

McGinnis will lead a group of 20 young Broadway hopefuls in a song interpretation class where the actress will work with students in a one-on-one setting on their performances. A representative from Tara Rubin casting, the agency responsible for populating the barricade of Les Misérables, will also be on hand to coach participants on audition technique.

On Dec. 16 Michelle Kittrell, the three-time Gypsy Robe winner and dance captain for Legally Blonde, will teach students choreography from the Jerry Mitchell-directed and choreographed production. Students will learn music from the Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin score and participate in a vocal audition technique class with a Legally Blonde casting associate from Telsey & Co.

Previous talents who have lent their time and experience include Sutton Foster, Beth Leavel, Jason Robert Brown, Lea Michele, Heather Parcells, Lauren Kennedy, John Lloyd Young, John Gallagher Jr., Stephen Schwartz and Lea Salonga.

Upcoming master class themes include Mary Poppins (Dec. 28); Wicked (Jan. 19, 2008); Spring Awakening (Jan. 21); Little Mermaid (Mar. 24); Hairspray (April 13); Spamalot (May 4); and Young Frankenstein (June 23). The creative participants involved will be announced shortly.

Space is limited for the Broadway Artists Alliance Master Classes. Those interested can find further information and applications by visiting www.broadwayartistsalliance.org/masterclasses.
