Gone Missing Will End Off-Broadway Run in January 2008

The popular musical Gone Missing, which has extended its run twice at the Barrow Street Theatre, will play its final performance at the Off-Broadway venue Jan. 6, 2008.

Gone Missing opened at the Barrow Street June 24. The production was initially extended through Sept. 16 and then for a second time through the beginning of the year. The production will now close Jan. 6.

Written and directed by Steven Cosson with additional text by Peter Morris, and featuring music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, Gone Missing marks the commercial Off-Broadway debut for the experimental troupe The Civilians.

The musical was initially performed shortly after Sept. 11, 2001. Since that time the show was developed and expanded to feature a score by Friedman, incorporating salsa, ballads, operetta and tuneful pop. The musical has also produced an original Off-Broadway cast album, which will be released by Ghostlight Records on Jan. 15.

Gone Missing, according to press notes, "is a collection of very personal accounts of things lost – everything from keys, personal identification and a Gucci pump to family heirlooms, your dog and your mind – creating a unique tapestry of the ways in which we deal with and relate to loss in our lives. . . . [The musical intertwines] stories of lost objects with those of the 'finders,' from a retired NYPD cop to a pet psychic."

The cast includes Damian Baldet, Jennifer R. Morris, Stephen Plunkett, Robbie Collier Sublett, Alison Weller and Colleen Werthmann.

The design team comprises Takeshi Kata (set design), Sarah Beers (costume design), Thomas Dunn (lighting design) and Ken Travis (sound design).
