Cast Announced for L.A. World Premiere Musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

By Ernio Hernandez
19 Dec 2007

The cast has been announced for the Center Theatre Group's upcoming world premiere musical, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre.

Alex Timbers directs this "fast-paced irreverent rock musical" that he wrote with composer-lyricist Michael Friedman. Previews start Jan. 13, 2008, and the show opens Jan. 20 for a run through Feb. 17.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, according to an announcement, "tells the story of Jackson's rise from a humble frontier background to battle the British, the Spanish, Native Americans and a young nation's already calcified political system, bringing populism and the Democratic Party to the American people."

The cast will feature Anjali Bhimani, Will Collyer, Diane Davis, Zack DeZon, Erin Felgar, Kristin Findley, Jimmy Fowlie, Patrick Gomez, Sebastian Gonzalez, Will Greenberg, Greg Hildreth, Brian Hostenske, Adam O'Byrne, Matthew Rocheleau, Ben Steinfeld, Ian Unterman, Benjamin Walker and Taylor Wilcox.

Kelly Devine choreographs. The design team includes Robert Brill (set), Emily Rebholz (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting), Bart Fasbender (sound) and Jake Pinholster (video). Music direction and orchestrations are by Gabriel Kahane. The production stage manager is David S. Franklin.

Writer-director Timbers (Gutenberg! The Musical!) is the Obie Award-winning artistic director of Les Freres Corbusier. Friedman (Gone Missing) is an Obie Award honoree for Sustained Excellence in Music and serves as an associate artist with The Civilians.

Tickets to Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson at The Kirk Douglas Theatre, 9820 Washington Blvd. in Culver City, CA, can be purchased by calling (213) 628-2772 or online at CenterTheatreGroup.org.
