Murin, Plunkett, Glover, Jordan and More Cast in Glimpses of the Moon

By Andrew Gans
03 Jan 2008

Patti Murin

Casting has been announced for Glimpses of the Moon, which is tagged "A Jazz Age Musical" and will play Monday nights at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room beginning Jan. 21.

Directed by Marc Bruni, the new musical will officially open Jan. 28 and will play a limited engagement through March 10. The cast will feature Patti Murin (Xanadu) as Susy and Stephen Plunkett (Gone Missing) as Nick with Beth Glover (Counselor-at-Law) as Ellie, Laura Jordan (In My Life) as Coral, Daren Kelly (Crazy for You, Woman of the Year, Deathtrap, South Pacific) as Nelson and Glenn Peters as Streffy.

Each performance will feature a special guest star from the Broadway or cabaret worlds. Tony nominee Liz Larsen will join the cast for the first performance on Jan. 21.

Based on the novel by Edith Wharton, Glimpses of the Moon features music by John Mercurio and book and lyrics by Tajlei Levis. The musical, according to press notes, follows "the jazzy whirl of Manhattan society, from champagne-soaked dinner parties, to luxurious vacation cottages and back to New York's elegant hotels. [The musical concerns the] popular but penniless Suzy Branch and her friend Nick Lansing [who] devise the ultimate fund-raising scheme: to marry and live off the wedding gifts while they help one another find suitable millionaires. The plan works perfectly — until they fall in love."

The creative team also includes Ted LeFevre (scenic consultant), Deb Gaouette (props designer), Jim Milkey (lighting designer), Lisa Zinni (costume designer) and Denis Jones (choreographer). Andy Cohen is stage manager.

Show times are Mondays at 8 PM. Tickets, priced $50 (plus a $30 food-drink minimum or a $50 prix fixe dinner), are available by calling (212) 419-9331 or by e-mailing bmcgurn@algonquinhotel.com.

The Oak Room is located within the Algonquin Hotel at 59 West 44th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues. For more information visit www.GlimpsesOfTheMoon.com.
