Stroili's Straight Up with a Twist to Play Off-Broadway Beginning Jan. 17

Actor Paul Stroili will bring his solo show Straight Up With a Twist to Off-Broadway's Players Theatre for an open-ended run beginning Jan. 17.

Stroili, whose television credits include appearances on "Malcolm in the Middle," "Brother's Keeper," "The Untouchables" and "Cold Justice," penned the one-man autobiographical comedy that will make its New York debut following an award-winning run in Los Angeles in 2000 and several regional engagements.

Straight Up with a Twist, according to press notes, "takes a look at one family, as they try to figure out a straight guy who says: 'Don't call my house during the football game…that's when I vacuum!"' In the production, "Stroili portrays his Bronx-born mother, his Italian father, his Goombah brother, and a host of other characters who struggle to understand a straight guy who 'can't work power tools, but can perfectly fold a fitted sheet.'"

Directed by Bill Penton, Straight Up with a Twist is produced by David and Hyra George (Millrock). The production has previously been filmed for a one-hour television comedy special.
