The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey has announced its 2008 season.

The season at the Madison, NJ, venue will kick off April 29 with William Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, which concerns "two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, [who] find themselves in the same city on the same fast-paced, bewildering day." Errors will play through May 18.

Peter Shaffer's Amadeus — the tale of "the young and brilliant Mozart and the fanatic malcontent Salieri who plots to ruin his career and smother his genius" — will follow, running May 28-June 22.

The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (abridged) — penned by the Reduced Shakespeare Company — will be presented at the Shakespeare Theatre's Outdoor Stage, the Greek Theatre, which is located on the campus of the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ. The comedic, family-friendly production, which features Shakespeare's 37 plays performed with lightning speed, will run June 18-July 20.

Daniel Davis, who starred in the recent revival of La Cage aux Folles, will take on the title role in King Lear for the New Jersey theatre. Davis, who is also known for his work as Niles on TV's "The Nanny," will play the ill-fated Lear July 2-27 on the theatre's mainstage.

Noel Coward's Private Lives, which concerns a divorced couple, each remarried, who find themselves honeymooning in adjoining suites, will be presented Aug. 6-31.

Broadway veteran Laila Robins will head the cast of the Shakespeare Theatre's fall production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire. Robins will play Blanche DuBois in the classic work, which runs Sept. 10-Oct. 5.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet will be presented Oct. 15-Nov. 16, and the season will conclude with a yet-to-be-announced holiday production, which will run Dec. 3-28.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Main Stage, the 308-seat F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, is located at 36 Madison Avenue in Madison, NJ. For tickets call (973) 408-5600or visit www.ShakespeareNJ.org.
