Rita Hayworth Celebrated in The Heat Is On! Feb. 13

By Adam Hetrick
28 Jan 2008

Carter Inskeep – the author who brought the life of country singer Patsy Cline to the stage in Always, Patsy Cline – will direct his Rita Hayworth solo show, The Heat Is On! in New York City Feb. 13.

Written and directed by Inskeep, The Heat Is On! follows the personal life and career of screen icon Hayworth who sang and danced her way through such film musicals as "You'll Never Get Rich," "You Were Never Lovelier," "My Gal Sal," "Cover Girl," "Tonight and Every Night" and "Down to Earth" – which served as inspiration for the 1980 film flop "Xanadu," now a critically acclaimed Broadway musical.

Quinn Lemley stars as Hayworth in The Heat Is On!, performing the legend's hits including "Bewitched", "Steppin' Out", "Put the Blame on Mame", "Zip" "Long Ago and Far Away," "I'm Old Fashioned" and "The Lady is a Tramp," backed by an 11-piece band.

Tedd Firth has created the musical arrangements, with orchestrations by Bob McDowell. Michael Louis designed costumes and created choreography for the production.

Following sold-out international engagements, The Heat Is On! plays BB King Blues Club Feb. 13 at 8 PM. Tickets are available by calling (212) 997-4144 or by visiting www.bbkingblues.com.

BB King Blues Club is located in Manhattan at 237 W 42nd Street.
