Musical theatre stars Victor Garber, Loretta Devine and Laura Benanti appear on the new ABC television series "Eli Stone," which debuts Jan. 31.
Greg Berlanti ("Dirty Sexy Money," "Everwood") and Marc Guggenheim ("Brothers & Sisters," "Law & Order") co-created the new hour-long series, which will continue Thursdays at 10 PM (ET); check local listings.
"Eli Stone" is the story of "a lawyer who finds himself at a crossroads in life," according to ABC materials, "caught between the man he has become and the man he wants to be... even if that means being a prophet."
Jonny Lee Miller ("Trainspotting," "Hackers") stars in the title role, a lawyer who suddenly begins having visions, which begin with pop singer George Michael singing "Faith." The British star of song will appear in the pilot (and his song titles, thus far, serve as the names of upcoming episodes: "Freedom," "Father Figure").
Garber (Follies, "Alias") will also star along with Devine (Dreamgirls), James Saito (Durango), Matt Letscher (The Rivals) as well as Natasha Henstridge ("Commander in Chief"), Sam Jaeger ("Catch and Release") and Julie Gonzalo ("Veronica Mars").
Co-creators Berlanti and Guggenheim are executive producers with Chris Misiano ("The West Wing"), who also serves as director. The series is produced by ABC Studios. For more information and a sneak peek, visit ABC.com.
