Michael Chernus, Mamie Gummer, Keira Naughton and Jeremy Shamos star in the Primary Stages world-premiere run of Brooke Berman's Hunting and Gathering, which officially opens Off-Broadway Feb. 3.

Leigh Silverman (Well) directs the production, which began previews Jan. 22 at 59E59 Theaters. The run is scheduled to play through March 1.

From the writer of Smashing comes this new play that "follows four interconnected New Yorkers through their thwarted attempts to find a place – without compromise," as show notes reveal. "Jesse (Shamos) has his first date since his divorce, his ex-lover Ruth (Naughton) is living a fantasy, his brother Astor (Chernus) is the 'man with the van,' and Bess (Gummer) has a plan to come out on top."

"We are thrilled to begin the new year with the world premiere of this exciting new play by Brooke Berman that incorporates original music by some of New York's up-and coming rock bands," said Primary Stages artistic director Andrew Leynse in a previous statement.

The four-member cast features Chernus (Essential Self Defense), Gummer (The Water's Edge), Naughton (The Rivals) and Shamos (Gutenberg! The Musical!).

The design team includes David Korins (sets), Miranda Hoffman (costumes), Ben Stanton (lights) and Robert Kaplowitz (sound). Melonie Rademaker serves as music consultant.

The Off-Broadway troupe presents the new work in association with Daryl Roth and True Love Productions. Next up for Primary Stages is Willy Holtzman's Something You Did, featuring Joanna Gleason and Jordan Charney (March 18-April 26).

Tickets for Hunting and Gathering are available by calling (212) 279-4200 or in person at the 59E59 Theaters box office (59 East 59th Street, between Park and Madison Avenues). For more information, visit primarystages.com or call (212) 840-9705.
