Beiruti, Brown, Cadoff, Loomis, McGuirk and Nauman Set for Family Musical Custard the Dragon

By Andrew Gans
13 Feb 2008

The Tales of Custard the Dragon, which was originally produced at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, will launch the youth division of Algonquin Theater Productions.

The musical theatre adaptation of Ogden Nash's "The Tales of Custard the Dragon" and "Custard the Dragon and the Wicked Knight" will play the Algonquin Theater Saturdays at 11 AM and 2 PM Feb. 16-March 8.

Directed by Broadway Backwards creator Robert Bartley, the cast will include Danny Beiruti, Jen Faith Brown, Ethan Cadoff, Megan Loomis, Michael F. McGuirk and Jeffrey Nauman as Custard the Dragon.

The Tales of Custard the Dragon, aimed for children ages 3-12 (and adults), features music by Brad Ross, lyrics by Danny Whitman and a libretto by Mary Hall Surface.

Shelby Adamowsky — seen in "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" and the upcoming "Horton Hears a Who" — will be on hand at the Feb. 16 11 AM performance to help kick off the inaugural production of Algonquin's youth division.

The Algonquin Theater is located in Manhattan at 123 East 24th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. Tickets, priced $12 (adults) and $8 (children), are available by calling (212) 868-4444 or by visiting www.smarttix.com.
