The cast recording of the Tony-winning musical Jersey Boys has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The RIAA certification means 500,000 units of the Grammy Award-winning CD have been sold.

Released by Rhino Records, the Jersey Boys disc was produced by Bob Gaudio for Gaudio/Valli Productions. The associate producer was Ron Melrose.

The CD features such Four Season hits as "Sherry," "Who Loves You?," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like A Man," "Dawn (Go Away)," "Rag Doll," "Big Man in Town," "Beggin'" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." The single CD features the original Broadway cast: Christian Hoff, Daniel Reichard, J. Robert Spencer and John Lloyd Young.

Jersey Boys was written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe. Des McAnuff directed the production with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

The musical, according to press notes, is "the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi . . . a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty."

Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in October 2004 before arriving in November 2005 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre, where it continues.
