Beach will begin performances as King Arthur March 4 at the Arsht Center in Miami, FL. He is scheduled to stay with the production through August 2008, according to a show spokesperson.
Beach will join a cast that includes Esther Stilwell as Lady of the Lake, James Beaman as Sir Robin, Christopher Sutton as Prince Herbert, Ben Davis as Sir Dennis Galahad, Brad Bradley as Patsy, Christopher Gurr as Sir Bedevere and Patrick Heusinger as Sir Lancelot.
Gary Beach won the Tony for his Producers performance and was also Tony nominated for his work in Disney's Beauty and the Beast and the recent revival of La Cage aux Folles. He has also appeared on Broadway in Doonesbury, The Moony Shapiro Songbook, Annie, Something's Afoot and 1776.
Mike Nichols ("The Graduate," "Angels in America") directed and Casey Nicholaw (The Drowsy Chaperone) choreographed Spamalot, which was inspired by the 1975 feature film comedy "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
Spamalot earned the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and took home honors for direction (Mike Nichols) and one of its stars (Sara Ramirez).
