Mann, d'Amboise, Little, McCourt, Thompson and More Set for Computer School Benefit

By Andrew Gans
26 Feb 2008

A host of theatre performers will take part in an upcoming benefit for The Computer School, a New York City middle school located on the Upper West Side.

The March 10 evening will benefit the school's instrumental program, which was started by Tracey Grimaldi to "help fill the gap left by inadequate funding for music and arts programs at New York City public schools," according to a press release.

The benefit will feature performances by Terrence Mann, Charlotte d'Amboise, Brad Little, Sean McCourt, Beth Thompson, Jennifer Prescott, Matthew Bennett and Anne-Julia Audray. The evening will also feature classical music performers The Molino Trio, jazz artists Jacam Manricks and Joe Freuen and The Computer School Jazz Band.

Actress Marsha Dietlein, whose son is part of The Computer School band, will host the evening. In a statement Dietlein said, "The real stars here are the kids. We are all doing this because we want to see these talented young musicians have the chance to reach their potential despite the general under-funding of public school arts. I invite New York music-lovers to come and help support these budding performers."

The evening begins at 6:30 PM with a pre-performance mixer followed by the 7 PM concert. Tickets, priced $20, are available by calling Sara Sloves at (917) 441-1234. Tickets will also be available the night of the performance at the Computer School, which his located at 100 West 77th Street. Visit www.thecomputerschool.org for more information.
