Dayton's Human Race Theatre Company Announces 2008-2009 Season

By Adam Hetrick
26 Feb 2008

Dayton's Human Race Theatre Company has announced its 2008-2009 Eichelberger Loft season that will feature an original musical as well as the works of John Patrick Shanley and August Wilson.

The Eichelberger season begins with Over the Tavern by Tom Dudzick. Dudzick's comedy about a family who live above their tavern in 1959 Buffalo will run Sept. 4-21. Mark St. Germain's Ears on a Beatle, in which two FBI agents are sent by President Nixon to spy on John Lennon and Yoko Ono, runs Oct. 16-Nov. 2.

The musical Brother Wolf, featuring the Dayton-based dance and music group Rhythm in Shoes, will play Jan. 29-Feb. 15, 2009. Brother Wolf, by Preston Lane with music by Laurelyn Dossett, is a modern re-telling of the classic "Beowolf" and features folk and gospel tunes.

The season will conclude with two acclaimed dramas running back to back. John Patrick Shanley's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning work exploring the conflicting nature of faith in the pursuit of truth – Doubt – will run March 19-April 5, 2009. August Wilson's Tony-nominated Gem of the Ocean, the final work of his ten-play cycle chronicling the African-American experience, runs June 11-28, 2009.

A holiday production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol (Dec. 4-21, 2008) will also be included as a separate offer from the five-production subscription season.

Tickets are available by phoning (888) 228-3630 or in person at the Schuster Center box office in downtown Dayton. For further information visit www.humanracetheatre.org.
