Gershon and McCormack Join Cast of Broadway's Boeing-Boeing

Gina Gershon and Mary McCormack are the latest additions to the cast of Boeing-Boeing, the West End hit that will arrive at New York's Longacre Theatre April 19 with an official opening May 4.

Gershon will play Gabriella, the Italian flight attendant, and Mary McCormack will play Gretchen, the German flight attendant. Casting for the final flight attendant will be announced shortly.

As previously announced, Mark Rylance — who was recently nominated for an Olivier Award for his performance as Robert in the London production of Boeing — will repeat his work for Broadway audiences. The cast will also feature Bradley Whitford (TV's "The West Wing," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," Broadway's A Few Good Men, Off-Broadway's Three Days of Rain) and stage and screen star Christine Baranski (Rumors, The Real Thing, "Cybill").

Marc Camoletti's play concerns a swingin' bachelor and his three stewardess fiancées (Gloria, Gabriella and Gretchen). Matthew Warchus (The Lord of the Rings, Broadway's recent Life x 3, Follies and True West) will again direct.

In Boeing-Boeing, press notes state, "an architect living in Paris (Whitford) has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancées with his housekeeper (Baranski) reluctantly playing romantic air-traffic controller as they fly in and out of his swank bachelor pad. But when an old school pal (Rylance) visits, things get rather turbulent. Schedules change, flights are delayed and chaos ensues in this whirl of mayhem and matchmaking."

The production features scenic and costume design by Rob Howell, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Simon Baker, original music by Claire Van Kampen and curtain call by Bruno Tonioli.

Boeing-Boeing originally opened in London in the early '60s and held the world record for the longest-running comedy in the West End, playing over 2,000 performances. It transferred to Broadway for a brief 23-performance run in 1965, but later took off as a licensable property in theatres around the U.S. John Rich directed the film version starring Tony Curtis and Jerry Lewis.

The current London production was also nominated for an Olivier for Best Revival.

Gina Gershon made her Broadway debut in Cabaret. She is perhaps best known for her work in the films "Bound," "The Insider" and "Face/Off" and the TV series "Ugly Betty" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Mary McCormack also made her Broadway debut in Cabaret. She played Howard Stern's wife in "Private Parts" and has also been seen on screen in "The West Wing," "ER," "K-Pax," "Deep Impact" and "1408." Beginning in June, McCormack will be seen in the new USA Network series "In Plain Sight."

The Broadway production of Boeing-Boeing will be produced by Sonia Friedman Productions/Bob Boyett, Act Productions/Matthew Byam Shaw, Robert G. Bartner and The Weinstein Company.

The Longacre Theatre is located in Manhattan at 220 West 48th Street. For ticket information visit telecharge.com or BoeingOnBroadway.com.
