Streep, Kushner, Langella and More Featured in Tribeca Film Festival

By Adam Hetrick
12 Mar 2008

A host of theatre veterans will be seen in the works presented at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, which will be held April 23-May 4 in Lower Manhattan.

Tony Kushner, Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and George C. Wolfe share their views on the creative process behind the Public Theater staging of Brecht's Mother Courage in the world premiere screening of John Walter's documentary "Theater of War."

Three-time Tony Award winner Frank Langella stars opposite Elliot Gould in Richard Leges' "The Caller," in which an energy business executive is assisted by a private detective in an effort to expose the corrupt practices of his corporation.

Also on tap is "Baby Mama" – a new film created by "Saturday Night Live"'s Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, featuring Sigourney Weaver. William H. Macy co-stars with Cheryl Hines in "Bart Got a Room", while Tony nominee Patrick Wilson stars in Tracey Hecht's "Life in Flight."

Evan Spiliotopoulos and Aristomenis Tsirbas' sci-fi animated feature "Terra" will include the voices of Brian Cox, Amanda Peet, James Garner and Danny Glover. Melvin Van Peebles will screen his film "Confessionsofa Ex-Doofus-ItchyFooted Mutha."

The 2008 Tribeca Film Festival promises to screen 122 films, 55 of which are world premieres, during its 12-day run from April 23-May 4. For further information visit www.tribecafilmfestival.org.
