Chicago's Lifeline Will Premiere Dorian Gray, Mariette in Ecstasy, Duck for President and More

Lifeline Theatre, the Chicago company devoted to adaptations from literature as well as new commissions, announced a 2008-09 season to include best-seller-inspired world premieres for kids and adults.

On the Mainstage, expect Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, a world-premiere adaptation by Robert Kauzlaric, directed by Kevin Theis, Sept. 12-Nov. 2; Mariette in Ecstasy, a world premiere based on the contemporary best-seller by Ron Hansen, adapted by Christina Calvit, directed Elise Kauzlaric, Feb. 13-April 5, 2009; Busman's Honeymoon, a world premiere based on the classic mystery by Dorothy L. Sayers, adapted by Frances Limoncelli, May 1-June 21, 2009.

In the KidSeries, expect Duck for President, a world-premiere musical based on the popular bestseller by Doreen Cronin, illustrated by Betsy Lewin, adapted by James E. Grote, music and lyrics by George Howe, directed by Lifeline ensemble member Shole Milos, Oct. 11-Nov. 30; Snowflake Tim's Big Holiday Adventure, the return of the holiday favorite written by Christina Calvit, directed by artistic director Dorothy Milne, Dec. 13, 2008-Jan. 4, 2009; Flight of the Dodo, a world-premiere musical based on the new story by Peter Brown, adapted by Robert Kauzlaric, music by Victoria DeIorio, directed by Lifeline ensemble member Paul S. Holmquist, Dec. 20, 2008-Feb. 22, 2009; Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, the hit musical based on the best-selling book by Betty MacDonald, illustrated by Hilary Knight, adapted by Lifeline ensemble member Christina Calvit, music by Paul Gilvary, March 14-May 3, 2009.
