Tony Award winner Lillias White has joined the cast of the one-night-only concert staging of the new musical The People vs. Mona, which will be presented at the York Theatre Company March 30 at 7:30 PM.

As previously announced, the new "Musical Mystery Screwball Comedy" by Patricia Miller and Jim Wann will boast a cast that includes Marc Kudisch, Christiane Noll, Ron Raines and Natalie Toro. Marci Henderson has also just joined the company. Rob Milulski will be the musical director. (This same group will preserve the score for JAY Records.)

The People vs. Mona was penned by Jim Wann (music and lyrics, book) and Patricia Miller (book). The musical, according to press notes, "involves Mona Mae Katt, who is on trial for the murder of her husband. She is also owner of The Frog Pad, the long-time musical heart of Tippo, a small town in Georgia. Prosecutor Mavis Frye knows Mona's conviction would make it possible to tear down The Frog Pad and build a lucrative casino, changing the community forever. In the kind of coincidence that could only be possible in small town America, defense attorney Jim Summerford happens to be the prosecutor's fiancé, and he soon finds himself unexpectedly attracted to Mona. There are several surprise twists as the fate of a small town hangs on the verdict."

Lillias White, who starred in the award-winning revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, garnered a Tony Award for her work in Cy Coleman's The Life. She also starred on Broadway in Barnum and Once on This Island and as Effie in the revival of Dreamgirls. White has also appeared in the Actors' Fund of America's benefit concerts of Dreamgirls, Funny Girl and Hair and was part of the cast of the City Center Encores! production of Purlie.

The York Theatre Company plays Saint Peter's Theatre, which is located on 54th Street just east of Lexington Avenue. For tickets, priced $35-$40, visit www.yorktheatre.org or call (212) 935-5820.
