"Spotlight" Shines on Wilfert, Winther, Wolfson, Umphress, Snow and Whyte March 28

By Andrew Gans
28 Mar 2008

The Spotlight Cabaret series, produced by Ryan Scott Oliver, continues March 28 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre.

A benefit for the Society of Singers Chapter East, the 8 PM concert showcases the songs of Julianne Wick Davis (Wood, Barrington's Disorder). Among those scheduled to perform are Sally Wilfert, Michael Winther, Cortney Wolfson, Jason Michael Snow, Blake Whyte, Alysha Umphress and Katie Thompson.

Joe Barros directs the evening, which features musical direction by Carmel Dean.

The Society of Singers, according to the organization's official website, "benefits the health and welfare of professional singers worldwide and awards scholarships to students pursuing an education in the vocal arts." For more information visit www.singers.org.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within the West Bank Café at 407 West 42nd Street at Ninth Avenue. There is a $10 cover charge and a $15 food/drink minimum. For reservations e-mail thespotlightcabaret@yahoo.com or call (212) 695-6909.
